Also known as "Corkonian", “The Devil in Dublin”,<br> "The Merry Blacksmith", “Mist on the Loch”, "The Peeler's Cap",<br> "The Peeler's Jacket", "Peeler's Reel/Policeman's Reel"<br> and other titles.<br> An Irish reel, with an American title, probably inspired by the<br> numbers of Irish laborers who made up a large part of the<br> workforce in the building of America's railway system in the<br> 19th century.<br> It has been printed in Cole's 1000 Fiddle Tunes and O'Neill's<br> Music of Ireland: 1850 Melodies (1903) (as The Merry Blacksmith) and<br> O'Neill's Dance Music of Ireland: 1001 Gems(1907).<br> I probably learned it from Cole's.<br>
